Norwich star Martin ready to play anywhere in bid for promotion

first_imgNorwich defender and captain Russell Martin has no problem playing in any position for manager Neil Adams and will happily sit on the bench for the good of the team. The Scotland international has watched his side drop to tenth in the Championship table after two consecutive defeats but he says it has nothing to do with where he plays on the pitch.“If the manager picks me at centre-back I play there and if he picks me at right-back I play there,” Martin told the Norwich website.“It will be the same if he picks me to sit on the bench at any point, I will sit there. I will play anywhere I’m asked. He picks the team on merit and picks a team to win the game on any given day.”“I feel comfortable playing in both positions in this league just as I did in the Premier League. I play at centre back internationally and have kept my place in the team for the last 18 months playing against some of the world’s best strikers and thoroughly enjoying it.“I have spoken before about having a preference and seeing CB as somewhere I will end up playing regularly as I feel it will prolong my career at this high level as the demands on a modern day full back get higher and higher.” 1 Russell Martin in action for Norwich last_img read more
