A Princess Street, Lodge, Georgetown man is now left counting his losses after he was attacked by two bandits, one of which was armed, and robbed of his valuables on Sunday evening. The victim, 39-year-old Gregory Shawn was reportedly walking to his home at around 19:00h after purchasing a small amount of groceries from a nearby shop when he was pounced upon. The man told Police that he saw his attackers pass him, both on bicycles headed in the opposite direction but did not notice when the duo began following him. However, he explained that he felt an arm around his neck and someone demanding that he “not move or I’ll injure you!”The frightened man explained that he dropped the groceries and began struggling with the bandit when he was confronted by the other perpetrator.Shawn recounted that he ceased struggling when he felt a cold object to the side of his chest and realised that the perpetrator was armed. The second suspect reportedly searched the victim’s pockets and collected his cellphone valued $75,000 and his wallet containing his identification card, bank cards and just over $25,000.The duo, both unmasked, quickly made good their escape on their bicycles. The matter has since been reported to the police.
Paul Scholes insists the best is yet to come from Jack Wilshere, and believes Arsenal could be a real threat in the Premier League this season. The former Manchester United midfield star found himself mired in controversy earlier this summer when he claimed the young Gunner had ‘failed to reach the next level’ and had ‘not moved on since he was 17’.But Scholes is adamant he would like nothing better than for the 22-year-old to prove him wrong. He told Drivetime: “I always seem to upset people whenever I say anything. I don’t mean to, honestly!“I played against Jack at 17 and thought what a player we’ve got here. And I don’t feel he’s gone to the next level yet. But you have to remember he’s had horrendous injury problems with his ankle and I’m sure the best is still to come from Jack. I hope so anyway because he’s an English midfield player and I want him to do well.“And he’s playing for a good team at Arsenal as well. I think they could have a good season, especially if Aaron Ramsey stays fit, and they’ve made a great signing in Alexis Sanchez. So hopefully this is the year when Jack really comes of age.”
