first_img Joao Carlos Teixeira 1 Joao Carlos Teixeira is to leave Liverpool this summer to join Porto, the Premier League club confirmed. The 23-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the month and was offered a new deal by Jurgen Klopp. But his desire for first team football has seen him seal a return to his homeland.Teixeira originally moved to Merseyside from Sporting Lisbon in January 2012 and was handed his senior debut as a substitute in a 3-2 victory at Fulham in February 2014.But he struggled to force his way into the team under Brendan Rodgers and Klopp and made only seven appearances last season.Liverpool will receive just £240,000 in compensation from Porto for the young playmaker, who has signed a four-year contract with the Primeira Liga side.Had Teixeira moved to another English club the Merseysiders would have been able to seek a higher fee closer to his actual value at a tribunal but a transfer overseas means they receive basic training compensation.last_img read more
