Scarlett Johansson as the Black WidowAvengers official FacebookAvengers: Endgame movie released earlier this week and it instantly broke all the box-office predictions. The movie made a whopping $60 million on opening day and movie experts are predicting that it will garner more than $1 billion. Apart from the box-office success, the movie will be remembered for several iconic sequences and particularly the one which happened between Black Widow and Hawkeye.Major spoilers for Avengers Endgame movie:As we have covered in our previous Avengers Endgame time travel post, Black Widow and Hawkeye goes to Vormir to get the Soul Stone. As we learned in Avengers: Infinity War, the only way one can acquire Soul Stone is by sacrificing the one person he or she loves the most. In IW, Thanos sacrificed his daughter Gamora.Black Widow and Hawkeye had a discussion as who is going to die and who is going to get the stone. After a lot of heated argument that involved punching and hurting each other physically, we see how Black Widow dies and Hawkeye comes back to the present storyline with the Soul Stone. If Black Widow is dead then what it means for Scarlett Johansson’s solo Black Widow movie?Scarlett Johansson has played Natasha Romanoff from Iron Man 2 and has remained a core member of the Avengers team. Before Captain Marvel, she was the only woman in the group and her presence meant a great deal especially to Bruce Banner aka Hulk. Scarlett Johansson at the press event for Avengers: EndgameTwitterAs earlier reported, a solo Black Widow movie was in development by Marvel with a May 2020 release. Cate Shortland is attached to direct the project and stars like Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, and David Harbour are going to play some important roles. At first, we were speculating that the solo Black Widow movie will feature Natasha’s story after the events of Avengers Endgame movie but the character’s death has proved that the upcoming solo movie will be a prequel story, which means that we might get to see other Avengers as well.As of now, neither The Walt Disney Company and Marvel Studios have confirmed the plot details of Black Widow movie but since the lead character is dead, it is most likely that they will be working on a prequel movie. We are not sure whether we get to see Tony Stark in the upcoming Black Widow movie but characters like Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, and Nick Fury may come in some capacity.Production of solo Black Widow movie is expected to begin after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Bella Thorne nude pictures leaked onlineBella Thorne (@bellathorne/Instagram)Bella Thorne made thousands of heads turned after she shared nude photos of herself on Twitter after an alleged hacker threatened her to release the videos and pictures on an x-rated website. Things did not go well for Thorne as she found herself receiving the blame from Whoopi Goldberg. But things have now started to turn for the model as she is receiving massive support online. As earlier reported, Whoopi Goldberg was not too pleased by Bella Thorne’s decision to release her own nudes. As per the Academy Award-winning actress, “I don’t care how old you are… you don’t take nude photos of yourself.” She even stated that “You cannot be surprised that someone has hacked you, especially if you have stuff on your phone. That’s why they’re hacking you.”Following which, the 21-year-old Bella took to Instagram to give a fitting reply to Whoopi. The famous model said in a tearful video that “Shame on you for putting that public opinion out there like that for every young girl to think that they’re disgusting for even taking a photo like that. Shame on you.”Now that this news has become a viral sensation, Bella Thorne is now finding herself on a more comfortable place as she is getting all the positive support from every corner. The Spider-Man: Far From Home actress Zendaya reportedly called Bella to make sure if she is doing well or not. The duo talked a lot about this generation and how as “women we shouldn’t feel bad about ourselves our bodies.” In addition to this, Bella Instagrammed several supportive message chats from her friends — including Madison Beer, Lily Rose-Depp, and Lucy Hale. In one of her conversation, Hale wrote the following:”Good for you baby girl. I’m so proud of you for speaking up. This breaks my heart. Everyone should love women. Don’t be an a**hole! Sexuality is part of being HUMAN. No hike of gas price now: BERC. File PhotoBangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday said it scrapped the decision of enhancing gas price ‘considering the overall situation’ in the country. The watchdog body announced its decision at a press conference at the commission office in the capital city, reports UNB.“In the present situation we find no reason to raise the gas price”, said BERC chairman Monwar Islam while briefing newsmen. He, however, did not directly respond to the question that there is a perception the commission this time did not hike gas price because of the advice of the prime minister Sheikh Hasina ahead of the general elections.Monwar said the distribution companies appealed for price hike calculating import of 1000 mmcfd LNG gas. But currently, LNG could only supply 300 mmcfd.Secondly, he said, NBR has given supplementary duty waiver on import of LNG.”That’s why we don’t allow raising gas price”, he said.Other commissioners were also present at the briefing.Commission member Mohammad Abdul Aziz, however, said that the government would have to provide Tk 3000 as subsidy to the distribution companies to cover the loss that they will incur due to the import of LNG.He said the commission would ask to provide Tk 1400 from short support fund.He said the commission will consider price hike when the 1000 mmcfd LNG will be supplied to the national network.Earlier, all the eight state-owned downstream entities in gas sector — six distribution companies, one transmission and an LNG marketing company — had appealed to the BERC seeking an average 75 per cent hike on the existing gas prices for different consumer groups except the household and commercial ones. The upward price revision was sought for industrial consumers, power plants, fertiliser factories, captive power plants, and CNG refuelling stations. The distribution companies are Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company Limited (Tatas Gas T&D), Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited (BGDCL), Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited, Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited and Sundarbans Gas Company Limited (SGCL).While participating in the hearing, the gas entities argued that as per the government decision they had to submit their respective price hike proposals because of the high import cost of LNG as it will push up their cost substantially. The Petrobangla started supplying the imported LNG to national gas network from 18 August through re-gasification by private sector-operated floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU).Officials said currently 300 mmcfd gas is being supplied from LNG and it will go up to 500 mmcfd in a month or two and then 1000 mmcfd gas will be flowed from next year as per a government plan.
Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad. ReutersMalaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, who staged a stunning election upset earlier this year to return to power aged 92, said he inherited a government lousy with corruption and with few trustworthy officials, reports CNN.”From outside we saw the damage, but we never expected the damage to be so extensive,” he told CNN at his offices in Putrajaya, south of the capital Kuala Lumpur. “Most of the top echelons in the government are corrupt.”Mahathir’s predecessor and former protege Najib Razak has been charged with multiple counts of corruption for allegedly embezzling millions in public money from Malaysia’s 1MDB fund.”I have to work with some of those people who are suspect,” Mahathir said. “It’s a very difficult job, if you don’t work with people you trust, you don’t know whether what you want them to do will be done or not.”Malaysia ranked 62 of 180 countries in Transparency International’s most recent global corruption index, with the NGO’s local affiliate warning that corrupt officials have been able to “stash their ill-gotten gains in their house or foreign banks and invest them in luxurious mansions, expensive cars or lavish lifestyle for their children with total impunity and in blatant disregard for the citizens they are supposed to serve.”As well as widespread corruption and the case against Najib, Mahathir is also facing significant foreign policy challenges, as Malaysia faces a more aggressive China and the fallout from US president Donald Trump’s trade war.Succession plansNow 93, Mahathir is the world’s oldest leader, 21 years older than Trump and more than twice the age of Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.Credited with turning Malaysia into a major trading and economic force in Southeast Asia, Mahathir left politics in 2003, but he returned with a vengeance this year, determined to oust Najib, who he blasted as corrupt and dictatorial. To do so, he teamed up with former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, who Mahathir himself once jailed, to lead a coalition of opposition parties which succeeded in toppling Najib in a landslide. Now Mahathir is back at the seat of power: literally, his staff said he uses the same desk as during his previous premiership.Soon after the win, Anwar, who had been in prison on sodomy charges, received a royal pardon, and both men have talked of him eventually replacing Mahathir as prime minister.”If the condition for us working together is my serving as prime minister for two years or three years, for me that is not important,” Mahathir said. “I will abide by the wishes of the people.”He said his personal opinion of Anwar did not matter — “I have to trust him whether I like it or not. I can’t be here all the time.” — though he added if “people want me to serve” beyond the time agreed with his coalition partners, then he would stay in power.Anwar is expected to run in a by-election in the near future in an effort to rejoin parliament, allowing him to replace Mahathir as prime minister.Caught between China and USMahathir’s keenness to remain in office may be lessened once he begins the task of tackling the many challenges — both at home and overseas — facing his government.Najib had pulled Kuala Lumpur close to Beijing, signing up to Chinese president Xi Jinping’s much vaunted Belt and Road trade and infrastructure initiative.Mahathir, however, has so far appeared more cautious. This month, Malaysia canceled a multibillion-dollar China-backed rail project after a government assessment found it was some $20 billion over budget.”We have always been friendly with China,” Mahathir told CNN. “There’s a saying, ‘the powerful will take what they will, the weak will yield what they must.'”Referring to Beijing’s increasingly assertive behaviour in the South China Sea — which it claims almost all of as its territory, including islands claimed by Malaysia — he added “we cannot go to war with them.””They are more powerful, and we cannot fight against them, (so) how do we benefit from their wealth and their power? That’s what we are looking at now,” Mahathir said. “We have to accept the reality of the situation.”He accused China of seeking to “spread its influence using the money that it has,” and said while China-backed mega projects are welcome in Malaysia, he didn’t want the government or businesses to be reliant on borrowing Chinese money. Some experts have warned Belt and Road projects may pile debt onto smaller countries, putting China in a strong position to influence their strategic decisions or even gain control of important infrastructure.Mahathir’s second major foreign policy concern is the other Pacific power: The United States. He has previously criticised Trump as a bully and expressed concern he could destabilise the region’s security or economy.”Trade war does not do anything good for the world,” he said of Trump’s recent economic policies.”He asked for things which are quite, quite unacceptable. For example, he wants to build a wall to separate Mexico from the US, and he is asking the Mexicans to pay. It’s your project, you pay! But is it because he thinks he’s powerful so he can ask people to pay for what he wants to do? So how do you deal with that kind of mindset?”He added that a trade war would hurt everyone: “The US will lose, China will lose, the whole world will lose. War and trade wars (don’t) solve any problems.”Terrorism threatMalaysian security concerns aren’t limited to Chinese warships in the South China Sea. Like many of its neighbors, Kuala Lumpur has faced a growing threat of Islamic terrorism, fueled by returnees from the Middle East and the proliferation of groups affiliated with the so-called Islamic State, or ISIS.Last year, an ISIS-allied militant group was driven out of the southern Philippines city of Marawi by a concerted military campaign. The group included multiple Malaysians, including financier Mahmud Ahmad, considered one of Malaysia’s most influential jihadists and the assumed source of funding for the Marawi operation.Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia have been stepping up security cooperation, particularly in the largely ungoverned border areas where militant groups are known to shelter.”It is a threat to our country but you know, we tried to counter terrorism with very sophisticated ways and all that using new technology to fight terrorism, but terrorism has a reason, it has a cause,” Mahathir said. “You have to (tackle the) cause of terrorism, if you can tackle the cause and remove it, then there won’t be terrorism.”He added that no one can win a guerrilla war, which “can only be fought within the hearts and minds of the people,” and blamed extremist religious leaders for fueling violence.”Islam that you see today is not actually the Islam that is taught by the religion. It is the Islam interpreted by certain powerful people, leaders, scholars and all that,” Mahathir said. “Islam of the Quran is a very moderate Islam. (It) calls upon all Muslims to be brothers, it forbids killing, but (they) are doing all those things which are forbidden by Islam.”
Kolkata: The Meteorological Centre at Alipore has predicted that North Bengal districts may witness slight rainfall in the next few days, while the South Bengal districts are likely to stay dry.The temperature in the city may go down by a few notches. The lowest temperature in the city on Monday remained at 18.3 degree Celsius, which is 4 degrees above normal. The mercury may slide down for the next couple of days and then again start to climb up. A sudden drop in the temperature will have no major impact on the overall cold condition in the South Bengal districts, a weather official said on Monday. Fifteen artists from different backgrounds have gathered to showcase sculptures and installations on the theme of ‘Public art and its relevance’, at India International Centre. Titled ‘Sculpt for Delhi-II’, the group exhibition was inaugurated by Anil Baijal, Lt Governor, Delhi and Ambassador of Bulgaria Eleonora Dimitrova in the presence of Vijay Kumar Dev, Chief Secretary, Delhi.”Exhibitions like these offer a platform to express our thoughts through the medium of art, showcase our creativity, and bring it into the notice of concerned authorities. The authorities need to understand our strengths, and therefore use our potential in the best way possible. It is a way to communicate with them and discuss the importance of such installations and sculptures for artists as well as the public,” said Shovin Bhattacharjee, whose sculpture ‘Mystery of life’ highlights how urbanisation is destroying the nature. All artists have given their best to make this exhibition one of its kind. I have always been a fan of sculpture exhibitions, and I congratulate the Delhi Art Society and India International Centre for organising such an event with great enthusiasm.” Neeraj Gupta said, “This liberating form of art is a mystical practice, and thus brings together a dreamy amalgamation of form, features, ideations, and ideals. Art is what metamorphoses the world into a more humane world. ‘Sculpt for Delhi II’ is one such attempt to control your world to consecutively take over culture. Works of art displayed in public places are the magnets that may hold the public space together. They represent the relentless spiral of the energies of the people.”
6 min read Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. On Oct. 21, 2016, the largest distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) in history was launched at around 7 a.m. EDT. It nailed servers belonging to a company called Dyn, an internet performance-management company that directs traffic for major sites. The Dyn attack caused a severe disruption of internet traffic to major sites, including many you may be familiar with, like Amazon, Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, Verizon, Pinterest, Etsy, Spotify, PayPal, Comcast and even Playstation. The first attack was followed by at least two more.Back in 2012, there was a DDoS attack that took out the websites of JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citigroup and other financial companies. In 2007, a DDoS attack literally knocked most of Estonia off the grid. How do these attacks work? The hackers look for a distribution model that can deliver sufficient traffic — in this latest case, a webcam that had sold well and had easily exploitable security. Then they focus on a target. The target here seems to have been companies that act as the internet’s phone book, making sure that traffic requests find the fastest route to any particular destination. If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, imagine a huge herd of zombies lumbering toward a valley with three fenced communities. While all three are in harm’s way, the one with the weakest fence will be overrun. The other two are more likely to withstand the onslaught.Another way to imagine this scenario is a subway car or bus contaminated with a cold virus. While everyone on board is exposed, not everyone will get sick. The virus goes where it encounters the least amount of resistance, which in this most recent attack happened to be Dyn.We can make this a problem of the past. While our government has disappointed time and again, in particular on matters of cybersecurity, a DDoS solution may possibly be only a rule or two away from becoming reality. That is, of course, if the new administration truly focuses on the issue. In that case Congress will actually agree on the day of the week to discuss the issue, and we can all say adios to the debate about whether the “Great Wall of Mexico” will be the answer to most of our problems.Related: Expert Hacker Shares 3 Ways Small Businesses Can Minimize Cybersecurity Threats The solution may lie in the way many ATMs now handle the new chip technology in credit and debit cards. When you make a request for cash or any other transaction, many machines will not release your card until you grab your cash or completely finish your transaction. This ensures that consumers don’t leave their cards in machines, which of course can create a very real vulnerability. When it comes to the Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the six billion (and geometrically increasing) connected and interconnected devices that surround us in our personal and business lives, the same principle might help. However, it would have to become the law of the land to work — a law that would include authority over trade, i.e., products coming in from overseas.Meanwhile, the “insert and release only when the transaction is completed” ATM process is a security measure designed to better protect your card, your accounts and your financial institution. If all IoT devices required the user to set a long and strong password before the device would function, a major vulnerability available for use by hackers in DDoS attacks would go the way of three-card monte scams. In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to put your organization in the best position to survive a DDoS attack. While these measures are somewhat technical, they are within the skill sets of whomever is in charge of your digital security.1. Identify a DDoS attack early. You can do this with the right Intrusion Detection System (IDS) or a state-of-the art firewall that uses “Stateful Inspection.” These are techniques that can alert you to an attack and allow you to respond before systems fail. Another good move: having a technology professional that is capable of identifying traffic that looks like a DDoS attack and is ready to respond by immediately applying filters to the inbound DDoS traffic.Related: 7 Cybersecurity Layers Every Entrepreneur Needs to Understand 2. Have plenty of bandwidth available.Bandwidth is pretty cheap, and if you are able to over-provision what you need, you can ride out smaller attacks or at least buy some time to react properly to larger attacks.3. Have a rule book.Apply the right technical defenses at your perimeter. For example, you could “rate-limit” your web server so that only so many traffic requests are allowed. This will keep your server from getting swamped. Doubtless, it will still slow down during a DDoS attack, but it won’t fail. There are other things you can do that are beyond a generalist’s knowledge, but are straightforward for a professional who handles the engine room of your online presence. One strategy is to add network rules that dump requests from suspicious places or deny all traffic that doesn’t come from trusted sources.Your IT team may decide it makes sense to time-out suspicious connections, drop malformed packages or set lower flooding thresholds on certain types of traffic. It is crucial to have these rules — however you choose to throttle them — applied to all routers and firewalls and even internal internet-working components to filter out the most common kinds of DDoS-type traffic.4. Get your provider involved.Your service provider will have better tools than anyone else when it comes to locking down the DDoS traffic headed your way. Alert the provider as soon as you see something. The company can even “null route” your address (a network route that goes nowhere) so you will see no DDoS traffic at all while it figures out how to neutralize the attack.5. Outsource your traffic. There are technical firms that specialize in filtering traffic for you in an emergency. When a DDoS attack occurs, all your traffic moves through one of their routers first, and they are very good at blocking all the DDoS traffic that would be coming your way.Related Offer: Experience ESET’s award-winning antivirus software right now with a 30-day free trial. While you cannot prevent someone from launching a DDoS attack against your company, you can be prepared to mitigate its impact. The key thing is to assume that it’s going to happen and be as ready for it as possible.
